The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is not only vast in territory but also exceptionally rich in natural resources. Its reserves of minerals (such as copper and cobalt), forests, and water resources all rank among the highest in the world, earning it the titles of "World's Raw Material Warehouse," "Geological Miracle," and "Heart of Africa."

With an area of 2,345,409 square kilometers, it is the second-largest country in Africa after Algeria, yet it leads the continent in both the diversity and volume of its mineral resources. According to the *2022-2026 DRC Mining Investment Prospects and Risk Analysis Report* released by Global Impression Investment Analysis, the DRC holds proven reserves of 73.4 million tonnes of copper (accounting for 15% of the world's total) and 4.5 million tonnes of cobalt (50% of the global total), making it one of the world's most important cobalt producers. The same report indicates 30 million tonnes of tantalum-niobium ore resources (80% of the world's total) and diamond reserves of approximately 206 million carats.

In addition, the DRC possesses abundant ferrous metals such as iron ore, as well as non-metallic minerals. Significant oil and gas resources are located in the coastal basin in the west, the central basin, and eastern regions such as Lake Tanganyika, Lake Albert, Lake Edward, and Lake Kivu. Current oil production in the coastal basin reaches 25,000 barrels per day. Proven reserves include 31.5066 million barrels of offshore oil and 20 million barrels of onshore oil, along with 20 billion cubic meters of offshore natural gas and 10 billion cubic meters of onshore natural gas. In the Mavuma region of Kongo Central Province, proven bitumen sand reserves amount to 14.531 million tonnes, with potential reserves estimated at 800 million tonnes.

The DRC hosts a variety of non-ferrous metals, rare metals, and non-metallic minerals—including copper, cobalt, uranium, zinc, manganese, tin, tantalum, germanium, tungsten, cadmium, nickel, chromium, diamonds, petroleum, coal, and natural gas—in extraordinary quantities, securing the country a critical position in the global resource landscape.
